So I was Googling myself without any new results when I switched to a Technorati search on the title of my book. The first hit was for a blog called The Written Nerd, and the title of the post was  Chronicle: National Book Critics Circle Awards Finalists 2006: The Other Academy's Awards. I tried not to make too much of it. Maybe there had been a post about the NBCC Awards and a separate post about how crummy my book was, but there was just one long post when I scrolled down the page. There's the name of my book, under the poetry finalists category. I read the post, and it seemed real. Now, my book came out a little over eleven months ago, and it seemed that hardly anybody had noticed. I had tried to become okay with that fact, so I wasn't ready to let myself get excited until I had confirmation. I called the apartment where I stay during the week, and there was a message from my publisher telling me the good news. Man, that is so cool.
