Probably the Last Newspaper Articles for a While
A while back, I was interviewed by Juliana Barbassa for an AP newspaper article that she was writing on the Fresno poetry scene. The article came out in newspapers around the 14th of May, which was pretty cool because it got picked up in a few places.
In none of the articles, however, were pictures included, and I had spent an afternoon driving around with a photographer, looking for cool places where he could photograph me. Then in last Thursday's Ventura County Star, the article came out again (Who knows why? Maybe one of the other three poets interviewed in the article did a reading down there this weekend.) and this time, they used my picture.
The aforementioned article, though, was only the first of a second rush of articles to get published. You can find a slightly larger version of my photograph here. The biggest one's here, but , seriously, check out my gigantic-looking ankle. For a photograph-free version of the article, check out Sunday's Washigton Post.
nice pic
Dude that's an awesome picture. As far as why VC - we spend time up there now & then (my bro lived up there & his wife is from there) and there's lots of agriculture up there, esp. in Oxnard and Camarillo. So there's a community who probably feels connected to ag in the valley and might be an audience for the poetry. Hope you're well. Might have to run some Madera questions past you / visit sometime in the next six months... AW
