Classic Post of the Week: "A Suicidal Joke"
This one goes way back, to late-April, when this site was just coming together. I was sitting in front of my rig, trying to think of something, anything really, to post. I didn't want this site to turn into Today, I went to the store to buy some conditioner, but they were out of the kind I liked, so I decided to kill myself instead, but then I remembered that I had bought a bottle of that conditioner the week before so I went home to shower but then I realized that I was out of shampoo so killing myself's back on the table. You know, that boring stuff that everybody blogs about, but that nobody wants to read.
I'll do funny, I thought. Nobody, apparently, wants to read my depressing poetry (my book's sold, like, two copies; it's embarrassing), but everybody wants to laugh. I came up with a joke.
Classic Post of the Week: A Suicidal Joke
This
joke works on so many levels. Doctor and nurse jokes are automatically
fraught with sexual tension, and then you throw some lotion in there,
ratcheting up the dirty possibilities. What did the doctor need lotion for in the first place? Why does he need more? Oh yeah, we're set up for a sleazy little punchline, but then we get a non-punchline punchline. What? I want to die? What the hell? Exactly.
